[NEWS] 120210 Block B Joy News 24 Interview

They’re quiet yet serious, honest yet not, and cute yet masculine. When watching Block B, it’s hard to describe them with just one word. They fiercely compete against each other for the mere prize of a cute character pen, but when it comes to the more serious questions such as broadcast regulations, they sit down and aren’t afraid to get honest.

Leader Zico has been spending a tough winter due to his severe cold and coming down with vocal cord nodules. “When my throat started hurting, I thought that I would be able to have a deeper and better-sounding voice, which would help since I’m a rapper. But since it hurts, it actually sounds a lot worse. I promise to take care of myself better so I can perform with an improved image.”

When asked about two songs from their album being banned by KBS, Zico replied, “I think the judgement of the people that regulate these songs are a bit off. I never once thought of the song ‘Did You or Did You Not’ in that way, and I think they’re purposely looking at these songs in a sexual manner. I honestly want to know how they reach the conclusions that they do.”

At the talk of regulations, the other members get riled up as well. Kyung chimed in, “When Zico is producing, he gets inspiration from me!Jaehyo added, “I think I’m getting old lately. When I wake up after a long sleep, my back and head hurt when you’re supposed to feel refreshed.”

The members went on to reveal that they were the most nervous about their comeback moments before their digital audios were about to be released. Zico said, “We were anticipating about 28th in ranking, but we managed to get into the top five as soon the songs were released. Out of our career so far, that was the moment where I almost choked with tears.”

Jaehyo continued, “We were eating dinner at a seolleongtang restaurant (stock soup of bone/stew meat) when we heard the news, and the atmosphere pretty much turned into that of the excitement of the World Cup.”

P.O. stated, “It’s been a while since we’ve been back. Our fans were really upset before because we’d perform songs overseas that were not yet performed in Korea. I want to do well and show a great image to help our fans feel better.”

When asked about their goals for the year, they concluded, “We want the public to remember the name Block B. It’s our second mini-album but this is actually the first time we’ve actually been able to promote like this in Korea. We’re always grateful and sorry to our fans because as singers, there hasn’t been much we’ve been able to show them. This time, we’re going to work hard so that everyone can be proud to say, ‘I’m a Block B fan.’”
